Spire Healthcare Group plc has secured the role of exclusive Team GB Official Healthcare Services Partner through to the end of 2028, including the Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The appointment, announced today, underscores how private enterprise can deliver specialised medical support for national sporting ambitions. With its network of 38 hospitals and more than 60 clinics across the United Kingdom, the company will draw on its expert consultants to provide care for athletes while extending its reach to encourage healthier lifestyles among the wider population.
Spire Healthcare already treats more than 1.3 million patients each year. The partnership will see the group deploy that capacity through joint campaigns featuring athletes sharing their patient journeys and recovery stories, alongside events that bring together Spire staff and Team GB competitors. Multi-channel marketing across television, digital platforms, social media and live events will run throughout the country.
Private provision meets national priorities
This collaboration offers a clear demonstration of the social market economy in action. Rather than depending exclusively on state structures, Team GB has turned to a private provider with proven scale and clinical expertise. The arrangement allows specialist resources to be directed where they deliver most value, supporting elite performance without displacing existing public health efforts.
Peter Corfield, chief commercial officer at Spire Healthcare, said the partnership aligned closely with broader goals.
We are incredibly proud to partner with Team GB, an organisation that embodies excellence, resilience and pride. Our shared agenda is clear - to play our part in making a healthier, more productive nation. We look forward to teaming up with Team GB athletes to support and inspire people to be active for healthier lives and faster recovery.
Tim Ellerton, chief commercial officer at Team GB, welcomed the match of priorities.
